Mag-Bind® Plasmid DNA Mini Kit
The Mag-Bind® family of products is an innovative system that radically simplifies extraction and purification of nucleic acids from a variety of sources. Key to the system is Omega Bio-tek’s proprietary Mag-Bind® Particles that avidly, but reversibly, binds DNA or RNA under certain optimal conditions allowing proteins and other contaminants to be removed. Nucleic acids are easily eluted with deionized water or low salt buffer.
The Mag-Bind® Plasmid DNA Mini Kit combines the power of Mag-Bind® technology with the time-tested consistency of alkaline-SDS lysis of bacterial cells to deliver high quality plasmid DNA. Up to 5 mL overnight culture can be processed in one single tube. Yields vary according to plasmid copy number, E. coli strain, and conditions of growth, 1 mL overnight culture in LB medium typically produces 10-15 μg high-copy plasmid DNA. The purified plasmid can be used directly for automated fluorescent DNA sequencing as well as for other standard molecular biology applications including restriction enzyme digestion.

E.Z.N.A.® Yeast Plasmid Mini Kit
The E.Z.N.A.® Yeast Plasmid Mini Kit combines the power of HiBind® technology with the alkaline-SDS lysis of yeast cells to deliver high-quality DNA in less than 1 hour. Omega Bio-tek’s HiBind® DNA Mini Columns facilitate the binding, washing, and elution steps, thus enabling multiple samples to be processed simultaneously. Yields will vary according to plasmid copy number, yeast strain, and growth conditions. Since yeast normally has very low plasmid copy number, the maximum yield from a 5 mL culture is ~ 1 μg.

The key to this system is Omega Bio-tek’s HiBind® matrix that specifically, but reversibly, binds DNA or RNA under optimal conditions, while allowing proteins and other contaminants to be removed. The nucleic acids bound to the HiBind® matrix are easily eluted with deionized water or a low salt buffer. DNA and RNA are suitable for many downstream applications.
Omega Bio-tek’s E.Z.N.A.® M13 DNA Kits are designed to purify up to 10 μg of single-stranded DNA from up to 3 mL of phage supernatant. Yields of single-stranded DNA obtained using E.Z.N.A.® M13 DNA Kits are around 3-10 μg and reproducible when the isolations are performed from the same culture.
